National Festivals of India
India is a land of multi-ethnicity where people of different languages and cultures live together with peace and harmony. India is worldwide known for its cultural diversity and colorful festivals. Apart from these festivals, we also have national festivals such as Gandhi Jayanti, the Independence Day and the Republic Day.
* Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Every year, this auspicious occasion is celebrated on October 2 with great zeal and enthusiasm. People across the nation offer prayer services and tributes to Gandhi Ji on this day. Various cultural programmes showcasing Gandhi Ji's life and struggle for independence are organized at our school. Also, different types of competition, such as essay writing, painting etc are organized to remember the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
* Independence Day is celebrated to mark the independence of India. India became independent on August 15, 1947, after the British left the contry. Since then, August 15 is celebrated as the Independence Day. On this day, various formal events including flag-hoisting and march-past in our school are organized to commemorate the day of freedom. The Principal of New Christ Church Girls' Senioe Secondary School , Vijay Ngara hoists the tri-color national flag (Tiranga) at the school primises.
* Republic Day is amongst the three national festivals of India. This auspicious day is celebrated on January 26 to commemorate the adoption of constitution. As per the records, the constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950 by replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing documemt of India. Like the Independence Day, flag hoisting ceremony and cultural programmes are organized at our school on the Republic Day.
Teachers Day
India celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as National Teachers’ Day as a tribute to his contributions and achievements. Born on September 5, 1888, Dr Radhakrishnan not just served as the President of India but was also a scholar, philosopher, and Bharat Ratna awardee.
Despite all his achievements and contributions, Radhakrishnan remained a teacher throughout his life. Teachers’ Day is celebrated at our institution to honour the memory of India’s first Vice President and to commemorate the importance of teachers in our lives.
Sports Day
Sports day is an occasion where pupils, teachers, and parents come together for a day of competitive sport. Our school choose to offer medals or prizes to the winners of the various events, and for others, participation is its own reward.
Christmas Day
Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring. Christmas celebration was held on 20th December 2023, in the school quadrangle. The school was beautifully decorated. The programme started with an information about Christmas and why is it celebrated. A beautiful skit followed depicting the scenes of the nativity of Jesus Christ interspersed with melodious carols sung by the choir.
Right from the conception of Mary to the birth of Jesus a harmonius story was displayed by the students. The event ended with cheerful Christmas greetings as the students danced to the melodious tunes of ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘ We wish you a merry Christmas.’ The dazzling entry of Santa Claus added to the joy and excitement of the students. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was visible on the faces of all the children. It was a joyous and amusing programme for everyone.
Armed Force Day
Since 1949, 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought & continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the country's honour.
Our students made posters , gave speech and performed a patriotic song on this day.
Ozone Layer Day
World Ozone Day is celebrated on 16th September every year across the world. This day is also known as International Day for the Prevention of the Ozone Layer. This significant day is dedicated to raising awareness among people about the importance of safeguarding the ozone layer and addressing the issue of its depletion.
Our students made posters and gave speech on slogan OZONE FOR LIFE.
National Constitution Day
India celebrates National Constitution Day on November 26,marking the 1949 adoption of its governing document, drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. On National Constitution Day, our school came alive with activities that highlighted the importance of the Constitution in shaping our democracy. Students engaged in discussions about fundamental rights and responsibilities, fostering a deeper understanding of civic duties. The day featured an inspiring assembly where teachers and students shared speeches about the significance of the Constitution, emphasizing its role in protecting our freedoms. Creative displays, including art and essays, showcased students' interpretations of constitutional values. Through these activities, the school community not only celebrated our nation's foundational document but also encouraged a sense of responsibility among students to uphold the principles of justice and equality in their everyday lives.
